This morning during worship I listened to the song below that Heather Lindsey posted about a few days ago on Instagram. She said “Go on YouTube & watch this only if you wanna fall flat on your face & cry out to the Lord… #Everything.” I don’t cry easily, and if I’m in a situation, whether I’m by myself or not, I will try to avoid crying! And I definitely don’t like to talk about emotions, so this blog post is out of character for me! So, when she said that, I thought something like ‘I’ll check the song out, but it’s not going to make me cry.” Basically, I’m sure it’s good, but it’s not going to move me to tears. Well…I was wrong!
It talks about pressing in to the Lord regardless of what’s going on in your life. You have to watch it to see what I’m talking about. I watched it twice and I cried more the second time around. It just speaks to you in your specific situation. No matter what is going on, press in to the Lord. He died for us and shed blood for us. He loves us so much. Don’t let the things that have gone wrong stop you from having a relationship with Him. If you’re mad at HIm, that’s fine! He already knows. Talk to Him about it. Pray for His help with your anger towards Him. For me, I just was saying to Him “…but it’s so hard. It’s so hard. This life is so hard and painful.” In my mind as I was praying this I was imagining Jesus hugging me and all the storms of life battering me on all sides, but as long as I hold on to Him, everything will be fine. No matter how big the storm looks, how loud the thunder is, how scary it is, what people say – it doesn’t matter! I’m not alone and Jesus is holding me.
After I listened to the song, I read a devotional and it brought me to Nehemiah 4:14
Then as I looked over the situation, I called together the nobles and the rest of the people and said to them, “Don’t be afraid of the enemy! Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes!”
“Don’t be afraid of the enemy!” The enemy can be anything! Finances, a bad relationship, people, etc. Whatever it is for you. Whatever is trying to take you out. Whatever is trying to get you to walk away from God. The point is, press in to the Lord, don’t run from Him. He will protect you and fight for you. When things get difficult, don’t get mad at Him because He ‘should do something’ or you think things should be different. Press in to Him. He is calling all of us to Him. He wants to protect us and guide us. But if we leave Him when things get hard because we think He should handle things differently, then we’re leaving ourselves exposed and unprotected. The Lord will fight for us, protect us and tell us what to do, if we press in to Him.
Are things seemingly getting worse? Press harder. Are you disappointed and frustrated? Press harder. Are you angry at Him? Have you stopped speaking to Him? Press even harder. He is ALWAYS the answer. There is no problem that Jesus is not the answer to. Have YOU messed things up? You know it’s you. You can’t even blame it on God. You know you shouldn’t have been doing whatever it is you were doing and now things are a mess. Press in to God. Don’t walk away from Him. He wants to help. He will ALWAYS take us back.
Jeremiah 31:3 says
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
